Sports Direct could be pulling out of Grantham.
The popular sports shop opened on Augustin Retail Park shortly after it was built in 2000. It is currently still operating.
But an advertisement clearly shows the premises is now being offered for rent. The shop to the west of Iceland is clearly marked ‘To Let’.
Contacts with the company’s press office have so far failed to get an answer as to whether it is closing or relocating.
In March, owner Mike Ashley said it could be forced to close stores due to the cap on business rates relief announced in the Budget.
He said said the £2m cap rendered the package “near worthless” for large retailers.
The advertisement says 5,000 sq ft is available, subject to vacant possession.
Earlier this week, The UK’s biggest tour operator Tui permanently closed its Grantham store on High Street
Tui announced last year it would close 166 shops across the country to cut costs and respond to changes in customer behaviour.
