Work has begun to improve Grantham’s St Peter’s Hill, funded by the Government’s Future High Streets Fund.
South Kesteven District Council was awarded £5.2m in 2021 to support regeneration projects, drive growth and improve visitor experience.
Improvements will focus on accessibility, safety and protecting green spaces. They will include new flower beds, water features and benches to provide resting places for visitors.
New bins will be added to encourage recycling and keep the area tidy, along with a water bottle filling station to support sustainability by reducing the need for single-use plastics.
Hedges have already been planted around the Margaret Thatcher statue area and the pathway extended, helping to improve access and protect surrounding green spaces.

Cllr Ashley Baxter, Leader of the Council and Cabinet Member for Finance and Economic Development, said: “This investment from the Future High Streets Fund is helping us to make practical improvements that will benefit residents, businesses and visitors.
“Improvements at St Peter’s Hill will create a safer, more attractive and accessible environment for everyone.
“The works have been carefully planned to minimise disruption and we look forward to seeing these enhancements take shape.”
