I’m giving up with Grantham traffic’s battle of nitwits

I live in the west of the town and have come up with the best route to Morrisons’ car park.

Turn up Springfield Road, on to London Road, up Station Road east and down Grantley Street.

This brings me to the head of the Wharf Road queue and only a couple of cars from the right turn into a very sparse parking area. So sparse, There is usually full space either side.

That was until today. I almost completed the detour, when reached halfway down Grantley Street, it was shut. I had to follow a detour using a one-way system as a wrong-way system which brought me back to London Road to reach a busy and notoriously slow Wharf Road.

All in all it took me 40 minutes from home.

Oh, and just to add to yesterday’s frustration, Morrison’s ATM wasn’t issuing cash so I lost more time going to the bank

I think in future I’ll join my neighbours who take 20 minutes to get to a Newark supermarket for their weekly shop.
