Brilliant!
Just an observation, but don’t one or two of those kids look quite ‘mature’ for max. 11 year olds?
Is it poss. they might be from ‘Springy’ next door? If year is correct at 1963, think was possibly still open; If I recall correctly St Hughes opened early 60’s, but there was an ‘overlap’ before Springfield Sec closed.
Was quite an ‘experience’ as 5, 6 and 7 year old having to face that dark tunnel under the main railway line, and then the Nottingham line bridge, every morning and tea time; no dropping off by car at school gate in ‘those’ days.
Almost sure the kids are from Springfield school, The chappie could be Mr Hayhow acting head.
@ imac says: Crikey you are right? That is I am sure “Jim Hayhow” He went on to the Boy’s Central school, I was there from 1964 to 1968, He was my teacher for a while, nice bloke, but had a bit of a nasty side if you pi$$ed him off! Used to do “Tech drawing” & hit you or us! with them massive Tee squares’ only if you deserved it! I am sure he was a Norfolk fella? Crikey mate until you just mentioned it I had totally forgotten about “Big Jim” Thank you for your comments. You Have just chucked this old bloke back 55 years or so! Thanks! Tony.
