Home Grown and Blooming Locally – 4 to 6 October
The UK floral industry is a 1.4 billion pound industry, and approximately86% of the cut flowers are imported from outside of the British isles.
Almost one-third of the global carbon footprint comes from the global food network. Food miles, account for around 19% of those emissions.
Eating food and enjoying flowers that have been grown close to our homes can therefore make us more climate-friendly.
Between Friday 4 and Sunday 6 of October St Wulfram’s Church is championing produce and flowers grown at home, or locally in allotments. We hope to showcase floral displays from local groups, and would like to invite you to be one of these groups. Displays can be in pedestals, in vase’s, buckets, wheelbarrows, your imagination is the only limit. Nor are you limited to floral displays, if you’d prefer to make your display out of fruit/veg that you have grown please do so. If you would like to chat about this further or to confirm that you would like to take part, please contact Mthr Kate on kate.hough@stwulframs.com or 07754049060.
