In 1980, BMARCo ABC boxing coach and artist Bob Ixer, created a protrait of the legendary British Heaveyweight Henry Cooper.
Renowned for the closeness he got to beating world champion Mohammed Ali, he was a very popular figure in the world of sport.
So it was quite a coup when Bmarco’s boxing club manager to lure hime to their big night at Stoke Rochford Hall to hand out the prizes – and all he charged was a box of cigars.
And on the night Bob, showed Henry his masterpice – the painting, on velvet of the great man. And Henry was delighted with it.
The portrait is now in the hands of another Grantham legend, Robb Lambley who is prepared to sell the painting for any reasonable offer.
