Help the people in your community by playing the St Barnabas Summer Raffle

August 8, 2023 by Grantham Matters Leave a Comment

By participating in the St Barnabas Summer Raffle, you could win up to £2,023 and make a real difference to people living with a life-limiting or terminal illness in your community.

St Barnabas has been providing compassionate, dignified care in Lincolnshire for over 40 years, with all services offered free of charge to the patient and their family. Each year, the hospice charity supports over 12,000 people.

Patients receive vital medical care, and their families, friends and carers can also access well-being services such as counselling and bereavement support.

For £1 a ticket, you can support local hospice care and be in with a chance of winning the top prize of £2,023. Further prizes of £500, £250, £100 and 5 prizes of £50 are also up for grabs.

Christa Spencer-Davies, Admiral Nurse for St Barnabas, said: “My job is providing support for people living with dementia in the community, focusing not just on the patient, but their families, carers and loved ones too.

“We give practical advice and emotional support around caring for their loved one and act as a listening ear to any issues or worries they have, helping them to navigate their loved one’s care. Every day, we work hard to give people the best possible support in the community, our Hospice buildings in Lincoln and Grantham, and in our Wellbeing Centres around the county.

“Some of my relatives, including my grandmother Mabel have been patients of St Barnabas Hospice, and the care she received was amazing. We were able to always remain close by and spend those final days with her. It’s so important to be able to give that to families, and I’ve never forgotten that kindness.

“Working for St Barnabas now means a lot to me personally. It’s my way of giving back to the Hospice for the kindness and support we received. I aim to give families the same level of comfort, support, compassion, and dignity that we experienced as a family.

“By playing the Summer Raffle, you will help nurses like me to give care and support to families around Lincolnshire, not to mention the chance of winning those amazing prizes! What would you do with £2,023?”

Entries will close on Friday, 29th September, with the lucky winners drawn on Wednesday, 4th October. The St Barnabas team will notify and get in touch with winners, so there’s no need to check numbers or make a claim.
