South Kesteven District Council is asking residents for their opinions on two separate policies – one covering street trading and the other for street/house-to-house collections.
The consultations are open now and people have until Wednesday 20 April to have their say.
One policy sets out what is required when applying for street trading consent.
The second concerns the permit needed for either a street-based or house-to-house collection for charitable purposes.
Cabinet member for Corporate Governance and Licensing, Cllr Linda Wootten, said: “We want to hear from anyone interested in how the Council issues consent for street trading and permits to carry out street or house-to-house collections for charitable purposes.
“Changes we would like to make to our street trading policy include strengthening the application process for a consent to be granted.
“We would also like to extend the scope of street trader licensing to include mobile traders –someone who moves from location to location – and would like your views on that.
“This is your chance to shape how consents and permits for street trading and collections are issued in South Kesteven. Please spare a few moments to let us have your views.”
The policy governing street trading licensing is being updated to reflect legislative and other changes.
South Kesteven previously had no formal policy for licensing on-street and house-to-house collections and the consultation will help SKDC decide on the new process to be followed.
Stakeholders including charities, current and past licence holders, local businesses and others will also be asked for their views.
Once approved, the policies will help everyone understand how permission is granted and ensure the decision-making process is consistent and transparent.
