Lincolnshire firm Beelsby Contractors says the addition of two Fruehauf tippers has improved the efficiency of its operations at Immingham Docks.
The two Stepframe Smoothsider tippers and Scania R450 tractors are part of the company’s 20-strong fleet that transport seed, gypsum and grain to and from the docks. The haulage fleet also operates across the UK.
“The new tippers are doing a lot of work at the docks, the fleet operating between 30 to 40 loads per day with many being short runs. These new tippers can easily manage that workload because they are robust and well-built,” says Beelsby Contractors partner Joe Fenwick.
“We have had other trailers before that are unstable on uneven ground. There is no such problem with our Fruehauf tippers. They’re extremely sturdy solid units just perfect for the job. I know they won’t let us down.”
The new tippers, built at the Houghton Road factory in Grantham, will each cover more than 100,000km per annum, delivering and collecting from agricultural customers and carrying loads to and from the docks.
Beelsby Contractors, located six miles from Grimsby, has had a strong relationship with Fruehauf spanning more than two decades, purchasing trailers from the company every few years.
The new tippers are fitted with Bridgestone M tyres. The detailed specification includes a performance chassis, automatic Red 3001 Shurco sheeting system, an air-operated tail-gate and a Barry Napper weigher with in-cab display.
“We do a lot of work on the docks so the air back doors and automatic sheets are a huge advantage because it means the drivers don’t have to get out of the cabs. It makes our work much more efficient,” says Fenwick.
“The flat-sided trailers are also easy to clean and maintain.”
He adds: “We have an excellent relationship with Fruehauf. They make a superb trailer and provide first rate customer service.”
