Autumn is one of the best times to have an outdoors adventure and the National Trust is offering plenty of inspiration to families in the Midlands.
The conservation charity is calling on its visitors to pull on their wellies and waterproofs this October half term to enjoy the wonders of this colourful season.
In Lincolnshire and Nottinghamshire there’s miles of parkland paths, woodland walks and gardens to explore, with piles of leaves to run through and muddy puddles to jump in.
Families can download nature activity sheets prior to visiting, or make their own adventures by creating wild art, building dens or playing hide and seek. Many places have tea-rooms or catering kiosks open, ready for those much-needed refreshments.
Emma Hawthorne, Assistant Director for the National Trust in the Midlands, said: “Autumn’s beautiful backdrop, its crunchy carpets of leaves and glossy conkers create a natural playground for children. For families who love exploring the great outdoors, there’s plenty of seasonal delights to discover this half term and we’d love everyone to share their National Trust adventures with us using #EveryoneNeedsNature.
“We need your support now more than ever, and every visit you make helps us to care for these places, so that future generations of families can continue to enjoy them.”
To ensure everyone’s safety at this time, the Trust recommends booking visits in advance, especially at busy times like school holidays and weekends. Every Friday new tickets are released for the following week and can be booked via the webpage of the property to visit.
