Grantham College port student, Tom Ford volunteers at two different football clubs alongside his studies and is reaping the rewards.
Having started on the sport course as part of the football academy at Grantham College, 17-year-old Tom decided to volunteer his time as a football coach alongside his studies. Tom spends 1-3 hours per week at Nottingham Forest Football Club coaching the Under 12s Development Academy and also coaches at Gonerby Youth Football Club on Fridays.
To support Tom’s development as a coach, Gonerby FC paid for his Levels 1 & 2 coaching qualifications of which Tom is close to finishing the Level 2.
Tom’s plans for the future include continuing his education at UCFB Wembley after his time at Grantham College to study Football Coaching and Management. Tom would like to then complete a master’s in International Management with the end goal of coaching first team players.
Tom’s commitment to coaching is second to none as he plans to pick up as many coaching opportunities as he can along the way. Tom believes: “in the football industry, it is do to with what you know but more importantly it’s who you know.”
