TWO Grantham schools are in the top five state secondary schools in the East Midlands for performance at A-level and GCSE.
Kesteven and Grantham Girls’ School, famous for having Margaret Thatcher as joint head girl, was ranked third in the region in The Sunday Times’ annual Parent Power countdown.
And Sir Isaac Newton’s old school, Kings School, Brook Street, was fifth.
The standings are based on the percentage of entries gaining A* to B grades at A-level this summer, which is given double weighting, and the percentage of entries returning A* and A grades at GCSE.
The top 10: 1. Caistor Grammar School, 2. Spalding High School, 3. Kesteven and Grantham Girls’ School, 4. Queen Elizabeth’s Grammar, in Alford, 5. The King’s School, in Grantham, 6. Queen Elizabeth’s Grammar School, in Horncastle, 7. Kesteven and Sleaford High School, Sleaford, 8. Queen Elizabeth’s High School, Gainsborough, 9. St Mary’s RC High School, Chesterfield, and The Becket School, Nottingham.
