Staff working for a local housebuilder have joined together to help support animal charities and organisations across the East Midlands – including one in Grantham.
The team at Bellway East Midlands set up a collection point for animal food to be donated at its head office in Meridian Business Park in Leicester.
In all, the housebuilder supported seven different animal charities across the East Midlands.
A proportion of the food was donated to Grantham Rescue of Cats and Kittens, based on Redcross Street, Grantham.
Grantham Rescue of Cats and Kittens is a cat rescue home run independently by retired Grantham-local Cath Rowson.
Over the past 20 years, Cath has worked her hardest to provide comfort, care and safety to stray cats and kittens across the East Midlands.
Cath’s goal is to supply the rescue cats with appropriate health treatment and 24/7 care, thus improving their chances of finding a forever home.
Cath said: “I’m currently caring for 29 cats and kittens who live alongside me in my rescue home.
“Together, with the help of local people, we can make a huge difference to the livelihood of stray cats and kittens in the area.
“It’s such a heart-warming feeling to see the cats I’ve helped move on to lovely new homes.”
She added: “I’m very thankful for Bellway’s generosity and kind contribution to Grantham Rescue.
“It’s gestures like these that make a real difference to the happiness and well-being of the cats.”
Carolyne Watkinson, Sales Director for Bellway East Midlands, said: “We are extremely proud of how our staff have clubbed together to support this worthy cause – they are clearly real animal lovers!
“We are committed to helping different charities within the areas in which we build new homes, so we set up a collection point to encourage staff to donate animal food and we were so pleased with the response.
“Cath does amazing work and has made such a huge difference to the lives of so many cats, so we are very happy to be able to offer her our support.”
Cath’s rescue home can cater for up to 60 animals at any one time.
One of the cats that Cath has helped to rehome is Titch (pictured).
The three-year old white tabby cat joined the rescue centre earlier this year and found his forever home in Lincoln three weeks ago.
Cath urges Grantham animal lovers who are seeking a furry new addition to the family to call the rescue centre.
