Nominated for the 2020 ‘green’ award category, we were proud to reach the final three candidates and were ‘chuffed’ to win during the virtual hosted event on the evening of 18th March 2021!
Ian Simmons, co-leader with (and standing in for) David Martin, thanked the hosts for the award, accepting it on behalf of the whole group, highlighting the work done by the wonderful band of enthusiastic volunteers who turn out in rain and shine to protect our river.
The award is a huge endorsement of the unsung work that the volunteers have put in over the last 15 years to keep the river free from litter and pollution.
Cate Holborn, Programme Officer with RiverCare/BeachCare said “Congratulations to you and all of the fantastic Grantham RiverCarers! I’m absolutely thrilled you have all won the Green Champions Award at the BBC
“Radio Lincolnshire ‘Make A Difference Awards’. It’s an absolute pleasure to work with such a fabulous, dedicated group of people, who care so greatly for their local environment, and I’m so pleased you’ve been recognised as the stars that you are.”
It is RiverCare’s ambition to keep our river – the beautiful liquid jewel that runs through Grantham – free from litter and pollution for the enjoyment of all.
