A non-profit woodwork project in Grantham has been left counting the cost after its Watergate premises were broken into over the weekend.
Simon Kieffer, founder of Outwood CIC, arrived on Sunday morning to find the glass in the front door smashed. The till had been taken, along with three DeWalt drills, three impact drivers and four tape measures. The till was a recent addition that he had not yet learnt to use.

The drills and impact drivers are marked with Outwood’s name, and Mr Kieffer has asked anyone who is offered them to get in touch.
“We are a very small project, a very small community project, set up to support and help people of Grantham to improve their mental wellbeing by making stuff,” he said. “So any tools and things like that that are taken, unfortunately that has a direct impact on what we do.”
He runs the project single-handedly and said there is no budget to replace equipment easily.

Outwood CIC is a non-profit social enterprise and woodwork project based in Grantham. Founded in 2018 by Simon Kieffer, its aim is to promote positive mental health, reduce social isolation and build community through creative woodwork workshops. Sessions are free to attend and centre on reclaimed wood that would otherwise go to landfill, with profits from anything sold going back into the project.
A GoFundMe has been set up to help cover the damage and the stolen equipment.
