
The motocross circuit near Grantham where a rider died following a crash at the weekend, will be closed this week as a mark of respect
Two men in their 20s were seriously injured in a collision involving two motorbikes at the Moto101 racetrack at Gonerby Moor, one of whom died.
The incident happened at about noon on Sunday, June 2 and an investigation is underway.
On its facebook page, Moto101 issued the following statement:
“Devastated to be posting something like this….
“On Sunday, June 2 a fatality occurred at Moto101. If any other riders or spectators that were at the track have any video evidence e.g GoPro footage or from spectators viewing bank please can you get in touch.
“Our sincerest condolences go out to the family and friends of those involved and with the utmost respect we will be closed this week.”
East Midlands Ambulance Service confirmed that land ambulances and the Lincolnshire & Nottinghamshire Air Ambulance attended the incident.
A spokesman said: “We received a call at 12.05pm to a medical emergency at The Croft, Gonerby Moor, Lincolnshire, involving two motorbikes.
“We sent a number of resources including ambulances, fast response vehicles and the air ambulance.
“One patient was taken to Queen’s Medical Centre in Nottingham.”
South Kesteven District Council is carrying out a health and safety investigation.
Police issued an appeal for anyone with Go-Pro or mobile phone footage to contact police on 101 quoting incident 209 of June 2.
