Due to the prospect of awful weather from Storm Darragh, SKDC’s outdoor markets in Stamford and Grantham tomorrow (7th December) are cancelled.
High winds from Storm Darragh and bitter cold are forecast as heavy rainfall moves from west to east across the country.
A popular Christmas lights trail was also cancelled for the evening last night due to high winds, leaving ticketholders disappointed. Belton House, puts on an impressive lights display each year with this year’s trail running until January 1.
However, high speed winds brought by caused the venue to close on Thursday, December 5, meaning the lights trail could not go ahead.
The National Trust, which owns the site, apologised for the inconvenience and released a statement, which read: “Unfortunately due to todays high winds it is not safe for us to open for the light trail this evening.
“All those with a ticket for tonight’s trail will be contacted by Ticketek in due course.” The trust noted at the time that Friday’s weather (December 6) looked fine but admitted it was “likely” the venue will close on Saturday due to the forecast of high winds.
