Grantham-based surgeon launches new book on helping people live happier, healthier lives

Professor Paul Lee, a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon and Medical Engineer

A surgeon who runs a specialist clinic in Grantham is launching a new book aimed at helping people take control of their health through prevention and regeneration.

Professor Paul Lee, a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon and Medical Engineer, will release Practical Regeneration on 12 March. The book focuses on how small, consistent changes can improve long-term health and reduce the need for medical intervention.

Professor Lee treats patients at clinics across the UK, including his Grantham clinic, where he works with people experiencing joint pain, mobility issues and cartilage damage. With more than 20 years of clinical experience, he is known for advocating early understanding of the body and preventative care rather than surgery as a first response.

Practical Regeneration follows his earlier book Regeneration by Design and places greater emphasis on everyday application. It introduces what Professor Lee calls the “one per cent rule” – the idea that improving one small thing consistently can have a meaningful impact on long-term health.

“Most of the problems I see in clinic didn’t start suddenly,” Professor Lee said. “They developed gradually, often because the body has been adapting to the same patterns for years. When people understand what’s happening earlier, they often have far more control than they realise.”

The book is being published by FCM Publishing, an independent publisher based in Lincolnshire, which works with authors whose work focuses on real-world impact.

Founder Taryn Johnston said publishing Practical Regeneration felt like a natural fit.

“Paul’s work is grounded in what he sees every day in clinics like the one he runs in Grantham,” she said. “His approach is practical, clear and focused on helping people understand their bodies before problems escalate. That’s why we were so keen to publish this book.”

She added that the preventative focus stood out. “This isn’t about quick fixes or extreme routines. It’s about empowering people to act earlier and care for their health in ways that fit real life.”

Practical Regeneration explores movement, recovery and long-term resilience using science-led principles rather than trends or gimmicks.

The paperback edition will be priced at £12.99 and available nationally on release.
