Grantham MP Gareth Davies has welcomed a successful bid by Midlands Connect, with Lincolnshire County Council as the lead authority, for a share of Government funding under the Local Electric Vehicle (EV) Infrastructure Fund Pilot.
Along with just 8 other local authorities nationwide, this £10 million funding will deliver 349 public charging points.
This investment is vital in supporting the equitable rollout of EV charging points across both urban and rural communities and in informing future schemes.
As part of an ambitious ten-point plan for a Green Industrial Revolution, EVs will play a crucial role in helping the UK to reach net zero carbon emissions by 2050.
Through similar future schemes, the Government is intending to install 300,000 public EV charging points by 2030 – equivalent to almost 5 times the number of fuel pumps on our roads today.
This recent funding success places Lincolnshire at the forefront of this change.
