The Guildhall Arts Centre’s future will be discussed on Tuesday, following concerns about its running costs.
It follows a review by consultants SLC costing £10,000 to look at the running of SKDC three arts, including Grantham, Stamford Arts Centre and Bourne Corn Exchange.
The review concluded the running of the council’s Arts, Culture and Events services were outdated.
It spent £1,748,868 on on arts and cultural services in the 2019-20 financial year, amounting to 11 per cent of its total net services costs. Of this, £1,090,232 was spent on staff plus the additional cost of the Head of Arts and Cultural Services.
Of the staff breakdown, £320K is at Grantham, £550K at Stamford, £173K at Bourne with £46K on Arts Events.
The review says the current in-house system is more costly than contracting it out.
It says in the short-term, the council should undertake a restructure of staff which could save £227,000 annually, excluding redundancy payments.
The Guildhall Arts Centre opened in 1991, including the 210-seat theatre in a £1.2m conversion of the former sessions hall.
