Asda has continued to strengthen its leadership team as part of efforts by new Chairman Allan Leighton to improve the performance of the troubled supermarket group.
After announcing a series of executive changes last week, the retailer today revealed that David Lepley is joining the business as Chief Supply Chain Officer to lead its food and general merchandise supply operations.
For the past eight and half years, he has worked for Morrisons in various roles, including Group Retail Director and Operations Director.
Before that, he spent over 11 years with Asda, starting as a Christmas temp in its Grantham store and working his way up to the role of VP of Online Grocery Operations.
Commenting on the appointment, Leighton said: “Delivering the outstanding value and legendary service our customers demand begins with making sure they can get the products they want every time they shop with us. David has considerable experience in grocery logistics and supply chain, and I am delighted that he is coming home to Asda to lead this key area for the business.”
