Smart Energy Greater Lincolnshire, a programme being led by North East Lincolnshire Council, is offering apprentices in the Greater Lincolnshire area a free energy-saving workshops to learn from industry-leading experts. |
The one-day workshops are part of a project to help companies save energy, save carbon and save money.Dozens of business have already taken part in the Smart Energy Greater Lincolnshire events and they have been so successful, they are now being extended to include apprentices.One company cut its bills in half in less than a quarter after attending and hearing tips from the programmes expert partners who are based in Germany and have worked on green projects around the world.Topics include heating, lighting and how businesses can implement simple behavioural changes. The aim is for apprentices to leave equipped with the knowledge they need to make a difference in their workplaces.Helen Norris, Smart Energy Greater Lincolnshire Programme Manager, said: “We know that young people in particular are concerned about climate change and we’re really proud to be able to support the next generation by giving them the tools they need to make a difference in their workplaces.“Our free one-day workshops for apprentices offer simple, practical advice that they can take back to their businesses so that they use less energy and therefore, less carbon.“The workshops are also an opportunity for apprentices to to meet other like-minded young people who are keen to go green too”In addition, after the workshop and follow-up visit, eligible business will be entitled to a follow up visit and a grant to help implement energy saving measures.Smart Energy Greater Lincolnshire aims to reduce carbon emissions by helping businesses use less energy.Helen said: “The project will be linking with loacal colleges and training providers to offer this fantastic opportunity to as many indivduals as we can.
