Former Kesteven Rugby’s Ollie Chessum has been named in the starting line-up for England Rugby’s Six Nations opener against Italy on Saturday, February 3 (2.15pm kick-off, live on ITV1).
England Head Coach Steve Borthwick has named his team for Saturday’s match at Stadio Olimpico in Rome, including the 23-year-old Second Row from Aunsby, near Welby.
Having played for Sleaford and Newark Rugby Clubs before giving up for a year. Returning to rugby after being persuaded by his cousin Ben Bailey, to join him at Kesteven RFC.
Chessum scored his first England try against Italy in 2022 Six Nations and will be hoping to help England to secure another victory.
Chessum was attached to Leicester’s academy as a teenager but was not taken into the main senior academy at 16, instead he played for Kesteven and the Notts, Lincs and Derby Rugby Union youth teams, during which time he represented England Counties at U18 level.
He still plays for Leicester Tigers
He captained England Counties to victory over Ireland at U18 level before being named in an England U20 training squad.
