England rugby legend and former RAF Flight Lieutenant, Rory Underwood MBE DL, has been confirmed as the guest speaker for InvestSK’s Business Breakfast in Bourne this month.
Owner of Wingman Ltd – a management consultancy based in Grantham – Rory will explain how he applies the skills and experience gained from his pilot and rugby careers to the business world and how cultural and commercial assumptions often made by CEOs can stop their business from growing.
Around 100 delegates are expected to attend the business event on Tuesday 25th February at the Corn Exchange in Bourne which will include presentations from Cllr Kelham Cooke, Chairman of InvestSK and Leader of South Kesteven District Council, as well as InvestSK’s CEO, Steve Bowyer, who will provide an update on InvestSK’s work to grow South Kesteven’s economy.
The event offers local businesses the opportunity to hear the latest news and economic insight from across the district and to network with other firms. It’s free to attend but advanced booking is essential.
Steve Bowyer, CEO of InvestSK, South Kesteven’s economic growth and regeneration company, said: “Our Breakfast events are a great place to make new connections and find out what’s happening in South Kesteven – and most importantly, generate new business opportunities.
“We’re delighted that Rory, a local business leader in his own right, has agreed to speak at our event in Bourne. We look forward to hearing how local companies can benefit from the incredible experiences and skills gained from his flying, rugby and business careers.”
After playing rugby as a youngster at Middlesbrough Rugby Club, Rory became one of the greatest wings in rugby union and is the leading try scorer for England in international matches.
He first played for England in February 1984 against Ireland at Twickenham, winning 85 England and 6 Lions caps between 1984 and 1996 (then an English record, later surpassed by Jason Leonard – it remains the highest total for an English back), scoring a record 49 tries for England, and one for the British Lions, making him one of the leading try scorers of all time. He played for England in the Rugby World Cups of 1987, 1991 and 1995.
Sponsorship is now available for InvestSK’s Business Breakfasts. If you’d like to find out more about the opportunity to showcase your company, or register your interest for events this year, please contact: info@investsk.co.uk
