Oscar Hewitt, who was born and raised in Grantham, moved to London to pursue a career in film directing.
A film that he directed last summer “A Van Called Muriel” is having a one-night-only screening in Screen 1 at his home town’s Savoy Cinema.
Last month, Oscar graduated from his BA degree in Filmmaking at the London Film Academy in Fulham.
During this course he met some incredibly talented collaborators and together they formed the film production company ‘Jacco Macacco Films’, of which this is their debut film as a company.
A still from the film. Recognise it?
Oscar said: “We all drove up together to shoot the 50-minute film in the Lincolnshire countryside where the film is set.
“We reached out to local friends and family who all joined in to support with filming locations, props, and even coming on as cast and crew members.”
We had a screening in London also just yesterday which went incredibly well, and have already been receiving some very kind 5-star reviews from audience members:
(“Truly wonderful debut film from the JM team. Great script and so many laughs.“,
“A hilarious and heart-warming film, with a beautiful aesthetic.“,
“A very funny, heartwarming film that had me invested in the characters from start to finish.“)
Synopsis: “A deluded folk band embark on a chaotic 3-day-long journey across the Lincolnshire countryside to play their first ever gig.” – A funny, sweet and quirky comedy road trip film.
The will be screening at the Grantham Savoy on Thursday 7th of September at 7pm, with tickets starting at £5/person. All proceeds go towards helping us to fund future projects.
