Active Lincolnshire has announced the finalists for the 18th annual Lincolnshire Sport & Physical Activity Awards, sponsored by Lincoln Water Park.
Excitement is building ahead of the awards ceremony which will be held on 3rd November at the Engine Shed in Lincoln and hosted by Lincs FM presenter John Marshall. The annual awards celebrate the impact physical activity has on people’s lives in the county, as well as providing a chance to recognise individuals, volunteers, sports clubs, schools and communities who actively contribute to the health and wellbeing of Lincolnshire and use physical activity to support positive change.
This year there are fourteen awards categories, including the return of popular categories such as: The Active Change Award, sponsored by One You Lincolnshire; The Workplace Wellbeing Award and the Active Schools Award, sponsored by Lincolnshire Agricultural Society.
This year’s awards also include several new categories to reflect the refreshed Let’s Move Lincolnshire Strategy, which aims to tackle the challenge of inactivity in Lincolnshire.
New awards for 2022, include the Unsung Hero Award, sponsored by Everyone Active, which celebrates those individual that work tirelessly in a ‘behind the scenes role’ for the benefit of others and who has made a significant difference to the lives of the people and communities they support; the Inclusion & Diversity Award sponsored by England Golf which celebrates clubs and community groups who work with and have a significant impact on people from under-represented groups, and who work hard to reduce inequalities; and the Influencer Award, sponsored by Chestnut Homes, which recognises an individual, group or organisation that has inspired and influenced people in Lincolnshire to become more active over the past year.
Emma Tatlow CEO at Active Lincolnshire commented:
“The quality of nominations for this year’s awards has once again been outstanding and our judging panel had a difficult job to select the three finalists for each award from all the inspiring nominees! It is wonderful to learn about the incredible work that is going on across the county, and hear the inspiring stories of individuals and organisations who go above and beyond to help keep Lincolnshire active, and have such a positive impact on people’s physical health and mental wellbeing.
The awards are an opportunity to say thank you to organisations, volunteers and staff, who have shown great dedication and commitment to helping others to keep active over the past year, as well as recognising those individuals who have used physical activity to make a positive transformation in their own lives. We look forward to meeting all the finalists at the awards ceremony on the 3rd November and celebrating their achievements.
I would like to say congratulations to all our finalists and thank you to our award sponsors who are supporting this year’s event.”
