I worked on the “Road Car” and remember all the drivers and the company fondly.
The bus you see 2803 was a Leyland National a superb vehicle to drive, the older vehicles on the fleet had character but these had heaters……….
The story goes that these buses were an amalgamation of ideas between what was then the “National bus company” and Leyland vehicles.
Happy days!!

I seem to remember that it was always Service no 31 to Knipton, When you consider that there was an hourly service to Leicester shared by roadcar and Midland Red till late at night, plus Skinners buses going out to Saltby, the area out Harlaxton way was really well served back in the day.

@Branston Magpie says:
That was amazin service really! Home in East Anglia hardly any Bus services for the villages now! perhaps once twice a week! & constantly being told about use Public transport! Bus & pubic transport not bad in Europe on the whole! & not getting political! because most of our losses of such services has been whilst up too our necks of being in Europe! sick of it? & hearing about it! being questioned about it by Natives of where ever I am! No body understands what the hell is going on! & old uneducated fella like me not a clue! Good reminder tho’ @Branston Magpie says: certainly changed!

Admit it Greeves you would just love to drive one of these, but you can’t and that makes you a sad man. Just ask me what is it like having a HGV class one and an all types PSV licence. Before you tell me I’ve used the old names to describe the licence categories to make it easier.
Greeves says

The Thinker says
Been retired and or on benefits that’s a laugh, like you I still work keep rattling out the CPCs or an ADR course keeps the mind active otherwise I might be in a home for the terminally muddled.
Had my day driving Layland Leopards or National Express some good but most bad overworked vehicles.
F89 takes me back good motor in the day better than our offerings at the time. Me I used to like anything with an Eaton Twin Splitter.
