Drivers ignoring no entry signs on New Street during Brooke Street closures

A reader has been in touch about the night-time closures on Brooke Street, and what some drivers are doing to get around them.

Rather than follow the diversion, they say dozens of drivers are ignoring the signs and heading through the no entry at the top of New Street, driving the wrong way down it.

“It’s sometimes a constant flow of traffic going down there,” they told us, adding that many are driving too fast, “presumably because they know what they are doing is illegal and don’t want to get caught.”

They say the police have been informed, but there’s been no sign of them so far.
