James Bishop asks…

Does anyone know or ever heard of a Belvoir Inn run by E F Pogson ? When I do a search I can only find one article

Belvoir Inn was actually in Belvoir itself. Ernest Pogson and his wife are both buried in Woolsthorpe cemetery. He died in 1900 she had predeceased him in 1894′

That’s interesting, what stories those two could tell, do you know where the Belvoir Inn actually was, and is it still standing?

In Wright’s Directory for 1892, Ernest is listed at the Peacock Inn. Is Belvoir Inn just an alternative name for the Peacock Inn?

Probably was Sam, when you think that there were other ‘Peacocks’ in the Vale at Croxton, and Redmile. If I recall correctly the pub at Rowsley ( next to other family ‘home’ at Haddon Hall) is also called Peacock.
I’ve found a photo which I’ll send in and hopefully J.P.. Will post in next day or two.
