The UK’s the largest caravan club hopes to create a 140-pitch touring site close to Belvoir Castle.
The application before South Kesteven District Council has been submitted by the Caravan and Motorhome Club, which currently operates more than 160 sites.
If approved, the site at Woolsthorpe by Belvoir would also incorporate glamping pods and pitches for tents.
Unfortunately, the development would also lead to the permanent closure of the Rutland Arms (aka Dirty Duck) pub’s car park to make way for an access road and 186 new vehicle parking spaces.
The planning application said it would bring “significant economic benefits”.
The 10-hectare development would be within walking distance of Belvoir Castle, ancestral home of the Duke of Rutland.
Plans include a reception building, toilet block and play area.
The park, which would be a major extension to an existing small site, would also create six full-time and two part-time positions.
