The project is co-ordinated by Grantham BHive to organise delivery of essential food supplies, medicine and other assistance for those living in isolation. |
SKDC Leader Cllr Kelham Cooke said: “Our CrowdfundSK project was created to open up fresh funding sources for local communities. “This is an amazing opportunity for people to get behind an appeal that illustrates how our communities are uniting to help some of our most vulnerable residents.” Grantham BHive is part of South Lincolnshire Blind Society. It has teamed up with partners including SKDC, the South-West Lincolnshire Primary Care Network (PCN) of 16 GP practices across Grantham and Sleaford and Lincolnshire Partnership NHS Foundation Trust (LPFT) mental health hub. Electronic systems enable payment for supplies and the funding will help to provide temporary credit for people unable to access their money. Volunteers also provide remote support and reassurance and dog walking for people who need to shield during the pandemic. The appeal target is £17,621, which has to be raised by 31 May 2020. On Monday (4 May), backers had pledged £1,456. Pledges will only be redeemed if the project hits its funding goal by the deadline. Two other appeals have been approved by SKDC’s crowdfunding partner Spacehive and are waiting to go live. Bourne Town Bowls club wants to improve its facilities, including clubhouse and bowling rinks, to make its facilities more inclusive and enable more people to enjoy the environment, play a sport suitable for all ages and abilities, and provide a social platform. North Witham Village Hall committee is focusing its appeal for funds to replace tired, heavy and mismatched furniture, including heavy trestles and stacking tables, improving facilities for groups that use the hall and improve its attractions for hirers.
