South Kesteven District Council’s revamped Community Fund has kicked off with three grant awards totalling more than £9,000. |
Grantham’s Dysart Park Family Fun Day was boosted by an award of £2,885 for organisers Dysart Park Action Group. The event enjoyed sunshine for a free community day out, with local dance groups, a dog show, free activities for children and picnics and opportunities for picnics. Stamford Diversity Group has been awarded £4,956 towards its Diversity Festival on 28 August on the town’s Recreation Ground. The festival is an annual showcase of diverse local communities, celebrating music, crafts, street art, food and drink from different backgrounds, ethnicities, heritage and nationalities. Community Response Lincolnshire, a voluntary organisation offering logistical support to emergency services, local festivals, foodbank deliveries and charitable events, will now be better equipped thanks to a grant award of £1,653. Its volunteers will be supporting councils in Deepings and Bourne with assistance at events during 2023 and provided marshalling at the Grantham Coronation Sunday. Cllr Rhea Rayside, SKDC Cabinet Member for People and Communities said: “It’s very rewarding to offer our grants to various groups who play a vital role in our community with great projects that make a difference to the lives of so many. I praise the hard work being done, especially during our current living challenges. “We are keen to support projects that help to tackle loneliness, social and rural isolation, mental health and wellbeing, all so important in today’s world.” Community groups delivering projects or events can apply for up to 80% of costs to a maximum of £5,000, with the remaining 20% as a required applicant contribution. The small grants scheme can fund 100% of project and event costs up to £2,000, with no match funding required. The next deadline for applications is 29 August. New criteria for 2023 include; expansion to fund repeat events or projects only two quotes required for all costs over £50 endorsement required from local Councillors Since the fund was launched in 2015 it has approved grants totalling £717,000 to support charities, faith and community groups, parish councils and social enterprises.
