South Kesteven District Council’s Street Scene team has been in contact with the householder most affected by bins on the pavement and explained what action is being taken.
Letters are going to all residents on Albion Place and Walmer Cottages to remind them which days bins are collected and the importance of returning emptied bins to the appropriate properties.
It follows complaints of the pavement in Albion Place being blocked by silver and black bins, refuse bags and even furniture for several days at a time.
Refuse collection crews are also collecting the extra waste that has been accumulating.
Cllr Dr Peter Moseley, SKDC Cabinet member for Commercial and Operations, said: “Thanks are due to all our residents who manage to organise disposal of their waste correctly. By and large it all goes well.
“The Coronavirus pandemic makes it more important than ever, with more people at home and more parked vehicles on residential streets, for us all to do what we can to help this critical service.
“Unfortunately, there is a small number of these kinds of incidents and we then need to remind people which days of the week to put out what bin, by what time, and what we expect by way of returning bins to their homes.
“In this instance we’ve followed up and written to local residents to remind them what we expect and to ask for their support. We will be monitoring the situation and failure to comply could be an offence and considered as fly-tipping, which will be pursued.”
“For bigger items we offer a bulky waste collection service for householders, which provides a convenient and cost-effective service.”
To book a bulky item collection customers should call SKDC on 01476 406080.
