A brand new show full of international artiste , funny clown and lovely animals.
Return visit to Belton Lane, opp Great Gonerby Memorial Hall, NG31 8PP..
23RD TO 27TH JUNE.
Circus Mondeo are so pleased to be making a return visit to GRANTHAM ( They used to live nearby for many many years at Honington, and one of their performers was the first child born at the hospital on the Millenium),
Petra Jackson said: “We love coming each year and love bringing you a brand new show each time.
“You may of seen plenty of other circuses but you have not seen anything like CIRCUS MONDAO.
“Well what a year we have had since march 2020 a year no one will forget. After starting our season in feb last year at this same venue we performed for approx 4 weeks before the country went into lockdown. we all returned to our farm just outside of boston.
“WE thought it would be a few weeks ! Never believing it would be near 5 months before we can start performing again, we was able to start performing again in august but after only 13 weeks of performing the country went into another national lockdown, which seen us all once again having to return to our farm and no jobs or money to survive, so in the last 14 months we have only performed for 13 weeks,
“Well i can tell you we received no help from the government, yes we are a registered business but we do not have a business premises due to the nature of our business, so we was not eligible for any of the government grants.
“Our performers are all international performers who come here to work on VISAs, these cost around £1000 per person with all the health checks and health charges flights ect. part of their VISA REGULATIONS is NO ACCESS TO PUBLIC FUNDS , also CAN NOT TAKE A JOB OUTSIDE OF THE ENTERTAINMENT SECTOR. so as you can imagine this has put all these circus artiste in a very sticky situation, BORDERS CLOSED SO CANT RETURN TO OWN COUNTRY, NO MONEY TO PAY FOR FLIGHTS, NO INCOME, NOT ALLOWED TO EARN A INCOME AND NO HELP FROM THE GOVERNMENT.
“So how have we survived for those 5 months?
“Well most of our performers have had to lived off FOOD BANKS for all that time, YES REALLY, from the kindness of local food banks thats kept everyone feed for MANY months we are forever grateful , It is not until you have to ask for this help that you realise how amazing these people are who organise food banks and those who donate to them.
“To say thank you to the food banks we want to give back, so we are setting up a FOOD BANK COLLECTION POINT AT THE CIRCUS,
“We are asking every customer to bring along a non perishable items of food like pasta, rice, tinned items, uht milk, cereal, crisps, biscuits, toiletries , toilet rolls, etc etc. we are supporting our local food bank, who will collec the items from us to redistribute it. we would love for you to help us publicise this so everybody knows what we are doing and hopefully will donate some items.
“There has been a government scheme to give grants to the entertainment industries, we have applied to the government for the grants to help us get passed this terrible time, but refused each time telling us we are NOT CULTURALLY SIGNIFICANT ! Our type of circus started over 250 years ago here in the UK,
“We keep to traditions and give good quality family entertainment. some circuses in the uk have received grants of over £500.000, where others , like ourselves have received zero. We have really struggled and need the GREAT BRITISH PUBLIC to turn out and support live entertainment.”
