Alford Street, Grantham, June 1st 1953 – Coronation celebrations. Won the town’s the best decorated street award. (Cowes Road was runner up with Buckminster Gardens 3rd. Pictures submitted by Cathleen Rowson and taken byb Walter Lee.

The party was held at the National Girls School with the whole street invited. The Mayoress, May Ramsden – who lived in the adjacent Redcross Street – was presented with a bouquet by two-year-old Cathleen Rowson.

Among them are David and Cathleen Rowson, Michael Sharpe, Margaret, Roseleigh and Ronnie Bacon, Angela Butler, Judith and Gillian Parker, Graham and June Younger.

Alford Street June 2012, at the Diamond Jubilee. It won best decorated Street in 1953 at the Coronation.
