Celebrating 50th Anniversary with Charlie and the Chocolate Factory the Musical

February 15, 2025 by Grantham Matters Leave a Comment

Harrowby Singers Amatuer Musical Society are celebrating their 50th anniversary this year with a spectacular performance of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory: The Musical from March 12th to 15th at the Grantham Guildhall. This energetic, family-friendly show is the perfect way to kick off a year of celebrations for this incredible society.

Harrowby Singers aim to be an inclusive and diverse society, showcasing members of ranging age and
experience. The talented performers have been rehearsing tirelessly each week, eager to bring Roald Dahl’s beloved story to life with all the joy and chaos it promises in this fun-filled production.

Len Batey, Chairperson of the society, has said “We are thrilled with the talent and enthusiasm our members have for this show. We can’t wait to share it with you. It truly does celebrate our 50th anniversary year.”

Co-directors Luke Pick and Charlie Parker, alongside a dedicated production team responsible for choreography, music, and set design, have worked hard to transform their vision into a reality.

Luke states, “Everyone in the society works so hard to make these musicals a reality and entertain the people of Grantham, to say myself and Charlie are proud is an understatement, we’re hoping for a sell out show so grab your tickets fast!”

Charlie and the Chocolate Factory tells the enchanting tale of young Charlie Bucket, who wins a golden ticket to visit Willy Wonka’s world-famous chocolate factory. Inside, he encounters whimsical characters and exciting (but at times, dangerous) adventures, all while learning important life lessons along the way. It’s a delightful show that’s sure to thrill audiences of all ages.

A special highlight of the production is the casting of three incredible children who will each take on the role of Charlie on different nights, each adding their own unique spark to the performance.

Don’t miss the chance to be part of this milestone year for Harrowby Singers—come and enjoy an unforgettable, musical journey at the Grantham Guildhall this March! Tickets are selling fast and are available now by visiting
