Officers including Grantham Response, Roads Policing and Rural Crime attended Alma Park Grantham where travellers had set up on private property. All of The vehicles and caravans present were checked and two were discovered to be stolen caravans.
One from Cumbria last year and the other one that wasn’t even yet recorded stolen as at 1125am this morning, a well loved Swift caravan which was stolen from the Cranwell area by two males in a black Kia Sportage.
Both caravans were recovered by RCAT officers, one being delivered direct back to its victim, almost undamaged less than 4 hours after its theft.
While all of this was happening the Kia Sportage was in the Swinderby area trying to steal another caravan.
The KIA was recovered following a short pursuit and decamp on the site by an RPU officer.
Two incidents and two different number plates.
Enquiries are ongoing.
POLICE ARE URGING CARAVAN OWNERS TO CHECK SECURITY.
Locks. Trackers. Cctv. Alarms. Know and record what your caravan vin/serial/CRIS numbers are whilst doing this ensure your valuable caravan is REGISTERED with CRIS and of course insured. It does help.
