Local businesses and organisations are needed to deliver a programme of clubs that provide enriching activities, free healthy meals and lots of fun.
Funded by the government through local authorities and delivered by a range of local providers, the Holiday Activities and Food (HAF) programme provides children with free activities, such as dance, drama, music, sports and games, and opportunities to learn about and enjoy new healthy foods. The programme is open to school-aged children receiving benefits-related free school meals in England.
The council is currently inviting expressions of interest (EOI) from experienced providers who wish to participate in the Christmas programme. Successful applicants will be provided with grant funding to deliver their sessions. Further information, including the criteria providers have to meet, can be found on the county council website. EOIs must be submitted by 12pm on 4 October.
Cllr Mrs Patricia Bradwell OBE, executive member for children’s services, said: “Our summer programme was very successful with many children and young people taking part across the county.
“We’re now looking for providers to deliver the Christmas programme, to help local children have a happy, healthy holiday.
“So if your business or organisation can help provide these children with a range of engaging and enriching activities, as well as healthy food, please get in touch.”
There are three online workshops that potential providers need to attend taking place on the 24, 27 and 29 September. Details on how to participate can be found on the website.
