Calling all creatives!

November 12, 2024 Leave a Comment

A call has gone out for anyone working in the creative industries across South Kesteven to meet up for a networking event at the start of December.

This is a key priority within South Kesteven’s Cultural Strategy, which was formally adopted in September 2023, and recognises the importance of partnerships and networking for a vibrant cultural sector.

The first session, on Monday 9th December in Stamford, will be an icebreaker with future meets expected to provide an informal opportunity to network with likeminded people, share skills, and discuss work and opportunities – and potential collaboration.

Further sessions will be hosted by SKDC four times a year in different parts of the district, as we provide a space for SK Creatives to get together.

Cabinet Member for Culture and Leisure, Cllr Paul Stokes, who is also Deputy Leader of the Council, said: “If you work in any area of the creative industry, either as a freelancer or as part of a business, established or starting out, I would encourage you all to join us for this creative networking event.

“We have found there is a clear desire from creative people, groups and venues right across this area to have a forum to share ideas and discuss upcoming events.

“We anticipate participants will support each other to raise the profile of local individuals, businesses and organisations, and bring potential partnerships together. We will also work collaboratively to share opportunities for training and professional development, volunteering and fundraising.”

Anyone who wishes to take part – or can’t make the December date but would like to stay in the loop about future opportunities to attend – should email Arts & Cultural Services Manager Jade Porter jade.porter@southkesteven.gov.uk

By sharing current work, projects or future ideas, the organisers hope the sessions will develop into a useful and informative opportunity for people who work – or would like to work – within the arts and cultural sector.
