Local people are being urged to buy tickets to support the council’s community lottery, LotterySK, with 86 good causes now registered.
Every weekly draw offers the chance to win £25,000, with 60p from every £1 ticket sold going to local good causes, twice the amount donated to charity by the National Lottery.
Four more groups have recently signed up to South Kesteven District Council’s lottery, set to contribute more than £74,000 this year to charities and community groups across the district.
One recent sign-up, Blackstones Junior Football Club, is already raising more than £1,500 to expand its service to more players in and around Stamford.
Cllr Kelham Cooke, the Deputy Leader of South Kesteven District Council, said; “We have some truly amazing people, many working voluntarily, helping others in community groups, sports clubs and charities.
“They need our support, so I am sending out a plea is for everyone to get behind all these good causes by buying a LotterySK ticket, which could also win a cash prize. It’s a tremendous opportunity to support deserving causes on our doorstep.”
Lottery SK launched last year with the first draw last October netting one lucky ticket holder £25,000.
The other three new LotterySK members are Hougham and Marston Village Hall, Bourne Town Bowls Club, and Friends of Willoughby School, a special school in Bourne catering for pupils aged two to 19 years with severe learning difficulties.
