Businesses: Book now for environmental sustainability expo

March 15, 2024 by Grantham Matters Leave a Comment

A free event hosted by the Lincolnshire Chamber of Commerce will help local businesses to embrace environmental sustainability.

The Decarbonisation and Sustainability Event and Expo is being funded by the Shared Prosperity Fund through South Kesteven District Council.

It will field key speakers to explain practical strategies to reduce carbon emissions, paving the way towards achieving net-zero goals.

Council Leader and Cabinet Member for Finance and Economic Development, Cllr Ashley Baxter said: “This is an invaluable opportunity to learn, network, and take meaningful steps towards a greener future and I’d urge any business wishing to expand its ‘green’ credentials to join us.”

The day-long event, on 25th March at Harlaxton Manor, will help inform, educate, and inspire South Kesteven based businesses to use opportunities to reduce carbon emissions as they aim for net zero goals. Lunch will be provided.

It is open to businesses, partnerships, sole traders and registered charities with a trading address within South Kesteven District Council boundaries. Representatives from businesses outside the catchment area may be added to the reserve list if tickets are available.

There will also be an exhibition of suppliers and products plus, of course, networking opportunities throughout.

Paul Green, head of Membership at the Lincolnshire Chamber of Commerce, said: “We’re thrilled to organise this event with South Kesteven, which will feature knowledgeable speakers, practical guidance, and insights into the latest decarbonisation developments and solutions.

“The expo has a range of exhibitors and will help equip your business for meaningful change. Attendees can network with local businesses sharing knowledge and will leave with a deeper understanding of this vital topic.”

Speakers include:

Councillor Ashley Baxter: SKDC’s Leader and Cabinet Member for Finance and Economic Development, is a Chartered Environmentalist and a member of the Energy Institute, having worked professionally in energy and waste since 1995.

Sean Bingham: Keynote speaker Sean, from carbon solutions company Auditel, is a specialist in helping business leaders reach sustainability goals by measuring their carbon footprint, then formulating and delivering a tailored carbon reduction strategy.

Andrew Casey: Andrew is a specialist in renewable and sustainable energy for Net Zero Business Finance. He advises on funding solutions for businesses to reduce energy costs and decrease carbon emissions by sourcing renewable technologies.

Jack Good: The Founder of Reuseabox, which helps companies reduce their environmental impact through cardboard reuse. The company works with household names such as Royal Mail, Yeo Valley, Hovis and Oddbox to promote the environmental benefits of recyclable packaging.

Jake Margiotta: Co-founder of start-up business Returnal, Jake’s firm offers a product aimed at the circular economy, providing a buy-back tech solution to create sustainability, customer loyalty and waste reduction.
