One of the first jobs on arrival in Grantham and moving football and cricket clubs. long discussions all round
The Thinker says
It is I believe very plain to see and understand that over the past 25 years or so the council, the planners and developers along with those who they represent have not had the best interests of Grantham or its inhabitants foremost in their minds when making decisions as to what to knock down, develop and completely obliterate. It would be a fair assumption to state that Grantham has to all intents and purposes changes beyond all recognition, and still continues to do so, but at what cost?
A question I would ask “Is Grantham, really Grantham any longer or is it just a name for a number vast housing estates, which by the way continues to grow, and a collection of large ugly retail outlets, which is conveniently placed at the side of the A1?

Moving all the Sports Facilities to the edges of the town was unbelievable. They even did it with the new Leisure centre in town. It was all about filling the council coffers and still is to this day. They don’t represent anyone except themselves. I would very much like to see the supermarket gone and the football club and cricket club i took so much pleasure in as a youth restored.
A thousand people would watch the town of a weekend, now it is a quarter of that and many used to watch the cricket especially on warm summer evenings, now nobody watches.
I would also like to see the glorious council offices bulldozed and replaced with something more useful like a green field. They need everyone’s money, but not everyone needs them.
