Two Grantham men were stopped and ordered to return home by Sleaford Police yesterday. They had travelled to the Sleaford area to go metal detecting. A police spokesman said: “This not essential and isolating.”

Grantham firefighters attended a large vehicle fire on Castle View Road, Easthorpe, near Bottesford, at lunchtime yesterday. Crew used a hose reel jet,two breathing apparatus and a thermal imaging camera to extinguish the fire. It was caused by a fault within the engine bay.
