Armani and Levi’s have committed to a new £125 million Lincolnshire designer outlet.
The two premium fashion brands have begun negotiations for shops at the Grantham Designer Outlet Village which will open in Summer 2023.
Up to 90 “premium and globally recognised, high street and independent labels” will open in the development’s first phase, all priced at up to 70 per cent off the recommended retail price.
The second phase is set to bring a further 50 internationally-recognised brands.
Giles Membrey, managing director of Rioja Estates, said: “We’re on track, and delighted with the progress we are making with brands that we know locals and visitors from afar will want to shop and experience.
“The Grantham Designer Outlet Village will bring premium fashion and retail brands within comfortable driving distance of the likes of Nottingham, Leicester, Cambridge, Peterborough, and Lincoln.
“Beyond those benefits to shoppers, the scheme will bring over £100 million in direct investment to the region and create around 1,500 permanent jobs when it opens, bringing tremendous opportunities for local residents and businesses.”
Roja Estates, who are working on the project alongside Grantham -based property investor Buckminster,Estates say they are also in talks with several other globally-recognised fashion, retail and hospitality brands.
They say that in total, just under a fifth of the first phase of the outlet village is already under offer to some of Britain and the world’s most desirable brands.
There will also be a selection of restaurants and coffee shops.
As well as the in-store shopping experience, the Grantham Designer Outlet Village will be the first new designer outlet in Britain to offer a website via its partner Wishibam, which will allow shoppers to browse and buy online from the designer outlet’s participating brands.
Work began on the site, to the south of Grantham, just off the A1 in March this year.
A shuttle bus will link the outlet village to the town centre and railway station and it is hoped the outlet village will attract 3.5million visitors per year, and estimated to bring in an additional 350,000 new visitors per year to the Grantham area.
It will also feature architecture that combines traditional forms and contemporary finishes to create a high-quality environment with shop fronts that enhance the area.
