Animal cruelty investigation as frogs and toads deliberately killed in Grantham pond

March 8, 2026 Leave a Comment

Officers from Lincolnshire Police investigating Wildlife Crime are appealing for information following a disturbing incident involving the killing of FROG’S and TOAD’S at a pond located at the end of Balmoral Drive, Grantham.

Between 3:00pm on Thursday 6 March and the morning of Friday 7 March, it is believed that approximately 50 Frogs and Toads were deliberately killed, and a significant amount of frogspawn, both clear and black, was removed from the pond. They appear to have been cut into pieces, possibly using a strimmer or similar garden tool.

The incident is being investigated as an offence under Section 4 of the Animal Welfare Act 2006, which relates to causing unnecessary suffering to an animal.
We are keen to speak with anyone who was in the area during this time, or who may have seen or heard someone using gardening equipment near a pond, or noticed any suspicious behaviour.

If you have any information, please contact the Officer in the Case, DC Aaron Flint, by email at aaron.flint@lincs.police.uk, quoting occurrence number 26000135650.
Alternatively you can call 101 or provide information anonymously via Crimestoppers UK on 0800 555 111 or online.
