Get ready for plenty of thrills and spills
South Kesteven’s acclaimed Mid Lent Fairs are returning to Stamford and Grantham with fun, rides and attractions for all the family.
Whether you want to take a spin on the waltzers, brave it on white-knuckle rides like Cyclone Twist and Bomber, eat some sticky candyfloss or try your hand at hooking some ducks – there will be something for everyone.
Stamford’s fair will arrive in town this weekend (30/31 March) and will be open from 6pm on Monday 1 April until 10pm Saturday 6 April.
An SKDC spokesman said: “We are really looking forward to welcoming the Mid Lent Fair to Stamford and Grantham once again. It is always hugely popular with residents and visitors alike and this year has over 90 rides and attractions for all ages to enjoy.”
Discount vouchers (30p off children’s rides and 50p off adult rides) are available at South Kesteven’s District Council’s Stamford office on Maiden Lane.
Road closures and restrictions during the fair in Stamford are:
- Saturday 30 March, from 5pm – Bath Row, Gooches Court, Castle Dyke, Red Lion Square, Cattlemarket Car Park – until 6am on Sunday 31 March
- Saturday 30 March, from 6pm – access in and out of Bath Row, Castle Dyke and Warrenne’s Keep will be restricted
- Sunday 31 March, from 8am – Castle Street
- Sunday 31 March, 12 noon until 6am on Sunday 7 April – Broad Street, Star Lane, Red Lion Street and Red Lion, Crown Street and Newgates
The fair then moves to Grantham, opening at 2pm on Sunday 7 Apriluntil 10pm on Wednesday 10 April.
Discount vouchers (30p off children’s rides and 50p off adult rides) are available from South Kesteven’s District Council’s Customer Service Centre at St Peter’s Hill.
Road closures and restrictions for the fair in Grantham are:
- Saturday 6 April from 6am to 6am Thursday 11 April – Union Street, Conduit Lane, Market Place and Narrow Westgate
- Although officially closed, Westgate, Guildhall Street and Welby Street will be kept open to traffic until 3pm on Saturday 6 April to allow parking for visitors to the market.
