Aldi has named the date for the opening of its new store in Grantham.
Work has been progressing steadily over the past year, on land at the corner of Trent Road and Harlaxton Road.
The land, which has been derelict for more than two decades, was previously a haulier’s depot, run by Grantham Road Services.
An Aldi spokesperson told GM today “Construction for our new Grantham store is progressing well as we move towards opening on the 24th March this year.
“This will create up to 10 additional jobs for the community and enable local people to shop and save closer to home.”
The supermarket chain plans to move from its South Parade home since 1995, to much larger premises to the west of the town.
“The current Aldi at South Parade is very popular. However, there is no potential to expand the site and bring it in line with Aldi’s latest openings and it is therefore necessary to relocate.
“The proposed store will accommodate the full range of Aldi goods and enhance the customer experience through improved facilities, including customer toilets.”
