I would like to nominate John Mapletoft fro the Hall of Fame for his tireless and amazing mentor role as Mr Table Tennis in Grantham over the past 50 plus years.
I remember as an 11 year old going to the Electric Club back in 1968 with my friend to ‘try out’ table tennis. Thanks to John’s enthusiasm I spent the next 8 years hooked on the game and then played in the league until I was 25. I still love the sport even though I moved around the country with my career.
John has put Grantham on the map with coaching some prestigious talent from Grantham and won the governing body ETTA National Coach of the Year award a couple of years ago.
I have not lived in my hometown for the past 30 years yet I still hear about john at the forefront of table tennis in the town and county.
A deserved member of your Hall of Fame
