I bet “Soul man” Greeves used to hang around Charity Jones’s door peeking in to see if I was in there buying my dealer boots with steel quarter heels.
Come on boy own up you’ve been rumbled ha ha.
Greeves says
Nah……………….Rag yard @ Lees was enough for me, kept out your way best I could matey! Didn’t need it! & if I was sent there & you was there, I was soon in & out! Heard you tho’ telling them lasses about how your Bedford TK was the best “Puller” up Denton hill & the other to wards Branston Junction/Waltham on the Wolds? & “knocking outa Cog” pulling in your wing mirror to reduce drag! loaded on the down hills! Haha! ………Eyes was sticking out as tho’ on stalks’ &stood up in the seat as you got wheel wabbles @ over 70mph!>>>>>>>>>>>>Bit o a lad want you eh!
The Thinker says
It was a good man to get a TK to pull up Denton Hill empty never mind loaded. Always a temptation to get out and push
As for talking to the lasses about my exploits, well to hear that you must have been pretty close by, obviously not so ‘fret’ of me as you make out then eh? hoping to catch a glimpse of my nice new shiny dealer boots with quarter steels on the heels.
Wheel wobble at 70 mph in a TK, I love it!! Can’t imagine anyone wanting to experience that and as for folding in the wing mirrors to reduce drag, I’ve seen bigger fag packets than the mirrors on a Bedford,
You did an awful lot of talking to them lasses, some of the very pretty as well it’s a miracle between that and watching out for me rolling up in Raggys yard you got any work done,
Greeves says
You never wore dealers @ work! Always remember you in Yellow Padleys Welly boots! & baseball cap with another homemade AEC patch on it, & L&R in indelible ink on top of the wellies! & B.O.C on the sides ? But most of us knew they wasn’t’ British Oil & Cake mills’ because there was no & on them! & British Oxygen Company was Red Wellies unless you was yard maintenance’s labourers! & they were one Red One White with massive Ls & Rs on them& dont ask me which was Red & which was White cos I failed the interview! :>) !
The Thinker says
I’ll give you ten out of ten for that reply, laughing still.
Still have the Yellow wellies but now with peek-a-boo toes
I know you follow my footware habits sad to say you must have a fetish for such things, I bet you have a room in your house filled with nothing but dealer boots and other goodies for the footware specialist.
Do they have meetings for boot aficionados, something on the lines of steam rally’s
Don’t go telling anyone though, people will begin to avoid you,
I understand
