Foster, David – Born into the motor trade

David Ronald Foster (1949-2015)

David Ronald Foster, was born in Grantham, the only son of Ron and Doreen Foster.

He attended Spitalgate School before joining his father at Harlaxton Motors, Harlaxton, to learn the mechanics of the motor trade.

He remained working within the local motor trade prior to opening his own garage with a partner in 1974 and he remained at Hilltop Garage, Great Gonerby until illness forced him to take early retirement in 2014.

In 1972 he married Carol in St Wulfram’s Church, Grantham. They continued to live in the Grantham area.

Mr Foster belonged to several Masonic Lodges in Grantham and was a past Master of Galway Lodge in Nottingham, also achieving his provincial honours.
